Homophile movement
Engelska
A collective term used to describe the philosophy and activities of many North American and European gay and lesbian publications and organizations of the 1950s and 1960s. The term "homophile," which was coined in 1924, emphasized the romantic rather than sexual aspect of same-gender relationships. The earliest organization in the Homophile Movement was the COC Netherlands, founded in 1946. Other examples include the RFSL (Sweden), Campaign for Homosexual Equality (UK), the Mattachine Society (US), ONE (US), and the Daughters of Bilitis (US).
